Introducing Creative Iraq

What does Iraq mean for you? Ancient Mesopotamia? The Golden Age of Abbasid Caliphate? The kings? More recent history? Sindibad? Sherezade? Gilgamesh? The countless stories that have grown up in Iraq have brought forward a diverse range of narratives of what is Iraq, and what Iraq will continue to be.

With such a fruitful base of inspiration, there are countless opportunities to build economic opportunities, social cohesion, and access to knowledge. The commercialisation of culture and heritage is traditionally frowned upon but has a great deal of potential to provide revenue to entrepreneurs as well as sustainable approaches to state institutions, in turn feeding local economies.

This is what Creative Iraq Consulting believes in, where culture empowers youth and innovation, a platform and catalyst for sustainable development contributing to not only livelihoods, but also the wider cultural life of the community that feeds a sense of belonging, enhancing positive identities. Through years of experience in project building in Iraq, we will be focusing our expertise to the cultural and heritage sector to ensure it works for the community, contributing to sustainable development.

Over the coming weeks, we will be announcing our local partners operating across the country, including some of the leading creatives who have used their heritage to build their businesses and make all our lives just a little more beautiful. Watch out as we launch new projects in coming months as well as regular blog posts on all things creative!

Stay tuned for more updates, news, as we see a creative Iraq transform what we know about culture. For collaboration or more information contact: ash@creativeiraq.com
